    What are SAP Calculations?

SAP Calculations are essential for any building to be listed on the market. According to Part L of the Building Regulations, SAP tests need to be conducted on all new residential developments, as well as extensions and conversions. There are two types of SAP calculations, these are:

    • L1A SAP – for new building developments
    • L1B SAP – for extensions and conversions only

Both types of tests will be issued a score between 1 and 100. The higher the score, the lower the energy running cost of the dwelling.

There has been a tightening of CO2 emission targets across the construction industry in recent years. As such, it’s become much more difficult to achieve the standards required to pass SAP tests. Fortunately for Purple Energy clients, we have been in the business for years and have seen first-hand the changing regulations.

For the best chance of achieving the results you want in your SAP calculations, we’d strongly advise getting in touch and involving us in the process as early as possible. We have a long list of London-based customers who can vouch for our work.

    How long do they take?

Ordinarily, SAP calculations take around 48-hours once we’ve received the order. However, each project is unique, with timescales based on the type of building and the timeline of the client’s project. Once the assessment process is completed, we will issue your report, which should arrive within 5-10 working days based on standard UKBC times.

Despite the fact it’s a 2-hour drive from our headquarters, we’ve frequently been making the trip South in the last couple of years. Our team is well-acquainted with the area, as we’ve worked hard to build our network in the Borough of London.
